About WALT Machine

Who We Are

At WALT Machine, we are more than a manufacturing company — we’re a team of innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers dedicated to advancing what’s possible in modern machining. Our mission is to combine cutting-edge technology with practical experience to deliver precision, efficiency, and reliability in every part we produce.

Founded on the belief that progress comes from partnership, we view every customer relationship as a collaboration. Whether developing a first prototype or scaling to full production, we work side-by-side with our clients to bring ideas from concept to completion. Our commitment to innovation drives us to stay ahead of the curve—continually investing in advanced CNC systems, automation, and process optimization to improve speed, quality, and consistency.

Precision is at the core of our identity. From CNC machining and engineering design to assembly, fabrication, and coatings, each step of our workflow is built around accuracy, accountability, and excellence. We pride ourselves not only on the parts we make but on the processes that make them possible.

At WALT Machine, we don’t just manufacture components—we build solutions. Our goal is to make the manufacturing experience effortless, efficient, and exacting, delivering results that help our customers succeed in a rapidly evolving industry.

History of Walt Machine

Tommy Caughey Sr. founded WALT Machine, Inc. in 1995 with over 40 years of experience invested in the Machining industry.

Within five years, WALT acquired its first two CNC machines, a HAAS mill and lathe. By 2003 business had expanded enough to move into the Hillsdale area where it is currently owned and operated.

In 2007, after completing a Mechanical Engineering program, Tommy Caughey Jr. turned WALT Machine into a successful second generation family company when he took over and began the construction of a brand new 5,000 sq. ft. facility.

Within a year, WALT Machine, Inc. was fully operational out of its new setting and it has only continued to grow and thrive.

Fifteen years later, WALT Machine finds itself continuously growing in the ever expanding field of manufacturing. Over this time, simple CNC machines and processes have been slowly phased out, as focus has shifted to the fully automated cells, lights out machining, and one-and-done parts processing.

Moving forward, WALT aspires to soon create a new 12,000-15,000 sq. ft. climate controlled facility. The 2000 sq. ft. of office space would overlook the facility as well as the street view through a brick and glass facade. The first floor would include employee offices, 2 bathrooms, break room, tool room, inspection room, and waiting area (required for certain certifications). Office space on second floor would be comprised of 2 bathrooms, a conference room, and an executive office. WALT would like to have a paved parking area with some covered overhangs for employee parking as well as trucks unloading. Attached to the building would be an additional 1500 sq. ft. storage area for vehicles and other long term storage items which would free up production space on the shop floor. To finish off the build, we would hope to cover the roof of the facility in solar modules as a way of reducing energy consumption
